Personal Data Protection Code

Italian Legislative Decree no.196 of June 30, 2003

This page describes how the website is managed regarding the processing of personal data of the users who consult it. It also constitutes a notice issued pursuant to Article 13 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 – Personal Data Protection Code. This privacy policy applies only to this website and not to other websites that users may access by following links. This privacy policy is also based on Recommendation no. 2/2001 that the European authorities for the protection of personal data – acting jointly in the Group instituted by Article 29 of Directive no. 95/46/EC – adopted on May 17, 2001 in order to establish certain minimum requirements for the online collection of personal data and, in particular, the procedures, time frames and nature of the information that data controllers must provide to users when they connect to web pages, regardless of the purpose of the connection. The Recommendation and a summary description of its purposes can be found elsewhere on this website.

“Data Controller” and “Data Processor”

As a result of consulting this site, data relating to identified or identifiable persons may be processed. The “controller” and “processor” of this data is the owner of the website.

Location of data processing

The processing operations connected to the web services of this site take place at the above-mentioned premises of the “data controller” and are carried out exclusively by technical personnel of the Department in charge of processing.

The personal data provided by users sending requests for hotel bookings or for informational materials (information, newsletters, registrations, etc.) are used only to perform the requested service and are disclosed to third parties only in the following possible cases:

commercial partners of the “data controller” to whom it discloses data for the sole purpose of processing bookings;

persons, companies or professional firms providing assistance and advice on accounting, administrative, legal, tax and financial matters;

subjects whose right to access the data is recognized by legal provisions or orders from the authorities.

Type of data processed

Browsing data

During normal operation, the computer systems and software procedures used to run this website acquire certain personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

This type of information is not collected in order to associate it with identified users, but could by its very nature, through processing and associations with data held by third parties, allow users to be identified.

This category of data includes the IP addresses or the domain names of the computers used by visitors connecting to the website, the addresses of requested resources in URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) notation, the time of the request, the method used in submitting the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the reply given by the server (success, error, etc.) and other parameters related to the user’s operating system and computer environment.

These data are used only to obtain anonymous statistical information on the use of the site and to check that it is working correctly and they are deleted immediately after processing. These data may be used to ascertain responsibility in the event of hypothetical computer crimes against the site.

Data provided voluntarily by the user

The optional, explicit and voluntary sending of email to the addresses indicated on this website entails the subsequent acquisition of the sender’s address, which is needed in order to respond to requests, and any other personal data that may be included in the message.

The data will only be stored for the purpose of bookings, requests for subscription to newsletters and/or special offers and will not be disclosed to anyone.

Specific summary information will be appropriately referenced or displayed on the pages of the site provided for specific on-demand services.

We do not collect or use personal information about anyone visiting the website. Visitors remain anonymous. The only exception is for personally identifiable information required to fulfill contractual booking obligations towards the user.

Bookings
When making a booking on the website, users are required to provide their name, billing address, email address, and payment and credit card information. The “data controller” will only use this information to process the booking and to send specific information relevant to the confirmation of the booking, such as the receipt, booking code and conditions.

Method of processing

The personal data are processed using automated instruments for the duration strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected. Specific security measures are observed in order to prevent the loss, illegal or improper uses of the data and unauthorized access to the data.

Right of Data Subjects

The subjects to whom the personal data refer have the right at any time to obtain confirmation of the existence or otherwise of such data and to know their content and origin, to verify their accuracy or to request that they be supplemented, updated or rectified (Article 7 of the Personal Data Protection Code). Pursuant to the same article, the subject has the right to request the erasure, anonymization or blocking of data processed in violation of the law, and in all cases to object, for legitimate reasons, to their processing. Requests should be sent by email to the address of the “data controller”

Cookie usage policy

This website makes use of technical and third-party cookies to ensure that the procedures work properly and to improve the experience of using online applications. This document provides information on the use of cookies and similar technologies, on how they are used by the website and on how to manage them.

Definitions

Cookies are short fragments of text (letters and/or numbers) that allow the web server to store information on the client (the browser) to be reused during the same visit to the website (session cookies) or later, even after several days (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, based on user preferences, by the individual browser on the specific device being used (computer, tablet, smartphone). Similar technologies, such as web beacons, transparent GIFs and all forms of local storage introduced with HTML5, can be used to collect information about user behavior and the use of services. From this point onwards, the document will refer to cookies and all similar technologies simply as “cookies”.

Type of cookies

Depending on the characteristics and use of cookies, we can distinguish between different categories:

Technical Cookies
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “transmitting a communication over an electronic communication network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information company service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user in order to provide such a service” (see Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code). They are not used for any other purposes and are usually installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into browsing or session cookies, which guarantee normal browsing and use of the website; analytics cookies, similar to technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to gather information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the website in question; functionality cookies, which allow users to browse based on a series of selected criteria in order to improve the service provided to them. Prior consent from users is not required in order to install such cookies. However, the obligation to provide information pursuant to Article 13 of the Code remains in place, which the operator of a site that uses only these devices may provide in the manner it deems most appropriate.

Targeting Cookies
Targeting cookies are designed to create user profiles and are used to send advertising messages that reflect the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web. Since these types of devices can constitute a particular intrusion into the user’s private sphere, European and Italian legislation provides that users must be adequately informed about the use of such devices and therefore express their valid consent. They are referred to in Article 122 of the Code, which provides that “storing information, or accessing information that is already stored, in the terminal equipment of a contracting party or user shall only be permitted on condition that the contracting party or user has given his/her consent after being informed in accordance with the simplified arrangements mentioned in Article 13, paragraph 3” (Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code). This site does not use profiling cookies.

Third Party Cookies
Users visiting the website may receive cookies both from the site visited (“first-party cookies”) and from sites operated by other organizations (“third-party cookies”). A notable example is the presence of “iframes”, “scripts” or “social plugins” for Facebook, Twitter, Google and LinkedIn. These are parts of the page visited, generated directly by the aforementioned websites and integrated into the page of the host site. The most common use of social plugins is to share content on social networks. The presence of these plugins results in the transmission of cookies to and from all sites operated by third parties. The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by the relevant privacy policy, to which you should refer.

Google Analytics
This website also includes certain components transmitted by Google Analytics, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Again, these are third-party cookies collected and managed anonymously to monitor and improve the performance of the host site (performance cookies). Google Analytics uses cookies to anonymously collect and analyze information on website usage behavior (including the user’s IP address). This information is collected by Google Analytics, which processes it for the purpose of compiling reports on website activity. This website uses Google’s analysis tool to monitor or collect personally identifiable information. Google does not associate the IP address with any other data held by Google, nor does it attempt to link an IP address with a user’s identity. Google may also disclose this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf.

Duration of Cookes
Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or a logout command is performed. Other cookies “survive” after the browser has been closed and will also be available on subsequent visits by the user. These are referred to as persistent cookies and their duration is fixed by the server when they are created. In some cases an expiration date is set while in others the duration is unlimited.

Cookie Management
You can decide whether or not to accept cookies by using your browser settings. Warning: total or partial disabling of technical cookies may prevent the use of the website functions reserved for registered users. On the other hand, public content can be used even if cookies are completely disabled. Disabling third-party cookies does not affect browsing in any way. Settings can be defined specifically for different sites and web applications. In addition, the best browsers allow you to define different settings for “first-party” and “third-party” cookies.
