We are also able to add oil requested by the client to achieve a product that follows the strictest quality specifications, positioning it at exactly the desired level.

IN EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

A semi-processed product made exclusively with Genoese basil P.D.O.

Conceived for the food, catering and deli industry, it is obtained by finely grinding the basil with oil, salt and the addition of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Delicately flavored oil is used to maintain the characteristic scent and to guarantee the fineness of the product. It is distinguished by its fragrance and light green color.

This semi-processed product is made with carefully selected sunflower oil from certified suppliers whose entire production chain is known. It is perfectly neutral in taste, strongly highlighting the natural flavor of the fresh basil. The product is therefore suitable for all those who deal with large volumes that require standardization and who find large quantities of products to be a deciding factor in the choice of raw material.
In addition, this semi-processed product remains perfectly liquid when refrigerated, providing easy and immediate workability.

P.D.O., or “Protected Designation of Origin”, is the European Community certification of foods whose characteristics are determined by their territory of origin.

Genoese Basil P.D.O. certification defines this product as “inimitable” thanks to its Mediterranean environment of origin (Liguria) and to the traditional techniques handed down over the years.

Genoese Basil P.D.O. is guaranteed by product specifications and by a checking system administered by an agency authorized by the Mi.P.A.A.F. (Italian Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies).

TRADITIONAL CULTIVATION

Traditional procedures, refined over years in the territory, are indispensable for obtaining the P.D.O. and are also a precious asset to the culture and its cuisine.


Mechanical plowing is performed to prepare and soften the soil, which then undergoes a disinfection process to reduce the presence of diseases and limit the use of pesticides. Irrigation is a delicate and essential process that the farmer oversees with great attention.
The harvest takes place by trimming and collecting the top portions of the plants, intact, and with a maximum of 4 leaf pairs, in order to guarantee the tenderness, aromatic character and scent.

NATURAL SOIL

Plants are grown only in natural soils, from which the aromatic characteristics of the product are derived. Additional treated soils and other substrates are not permitted.


The label is essential: if the basil used is GENOESE P.D.O., it is communicated on the front part of the label with a distinguishing logo, guaranteeing the uncompromising quality of true Genoese basil, unlike other basil products produced in less suitable areas or with non-traditional methods.
